Event Details

Upon completion of the course participants will have a better understanding of the technology and methods associated with verification and calibration.  They will have gained a better knowledge of its purpose and importance in the operations cycle.  With the knowledge gained, technicians will be able to expand their skills through on-the-job training, as well as practical experience gained on the plant site.

On day one, participants will learn about the basic concepts of calibration and verification of a measuring device and the final control element.  They will be made aware of the responsibilities of the instrument technician to follow procedures properly and maintain accurate documentation.  The course will also review the common characteristics of calibration procedures, as well as the options available to perform these calibrations.

 

Calibrating Instruments

  • Temperature and pressure devices
  • Level and flow devices
  • Final control elements
  • Analyzers

On the second day, participants will become familiar with the basic calibration procedures of the four main measuring instruments - temperature, pressure, level and flow. They will also be exposed to the calibration of final control elements, such as control valves, as well as the extended complexity of calibration procedures like those used in analyzer equipment.

 

FOR WHOM:

This course is mainly targeted to instrumentation technicians working in the field as an introduction or refresher.  The course can be applicable to technicians working in other disciplines, equipment purchasers, procurement and storage personnel, job planners, and immediate supervisors.

 

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

The training methodology combines lectures, discussions, group exercises and illustrations. Participants will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of the topics. The emphasis is on the practical application of the topics and as a result participant will go back to the workplace with both the ability and the confidence to apply the techniques learned to their duties.
