Event Details
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of rigging principles including load dynamics, center of gravity, load control, and sling angles.
Interpret and apply relevant international and local standards such as those from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) in lifting operations.
Plan and execute complex lifting operations including tandem lifts, critical lifts, and non-routine lifting activities.
Select appropriate lifting equipment and rigging gear based on load characteristics, environmental conditions, and operational requirements.
Content
Advanced Rigging Principles
- Review of fundamental rigging concepts
- Advanced load dynamics and center of gravity calculations
- Load stability and balance analysis

- Basic structural and mechanical considerations
- Introduction to engineered lift studies
Standards, Regulations, and Compliance
- International and local lifting regulations
- Industry best practices (e.g., ISO standards)
- Documentation and record keeping
- Roles and responsibilities (Rigger, Lift Supervisor, Appointed Person)
- Legal implications of non-compliance
Training Methodology
The training methodology combines lectures, discussions, group exercises and illustrations. Participants will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of the topics. The emphasis is on the practical application of the topics and as a result participant will go back to the workplace with both the ability and the confidence to apply the techniques learned to their duties.
